Seattle

With some time off from work(for Michael) and some overtime work to pay for it, we decided to take our first real vacation. We camped(first time camping since we got married) in Kopachuck State Park.
















We had hot dogs and smores roasted over a campfire. It looks like our poor little tent has had it. Since the zipper on the tent was broken the dogs had to spend the night in the car.

















After waking up in the morning and packing up, we headed the last 50 miles to Seattle. Our first stop was Pike's Place Market, a world famous fish and produce market.

















We wandered in downtown Seattle for a while, looking for a place to eat lunch. A very enthusiastic local man decided to tell us all about the best places to eat at and visit in Seattle. So, we decided to eat a fancy lunch at Anthonys Bell Street Diner on Pier 66. This is the cheaper part of the Anthony's restaurant. It has famous seafood, and we decided to be brave and try it out. Mandy ordered a Salmon pot pie, and I orded Shrimp linguini with a salad and sourdough bread. We also ordered a Chicken Burger for Mandy, in case she couldn't stomach the seafood. Luckily she was able to enjoy the salmon pot pie, and I get the leftover chicken burger tonight.

















We then went to Kerry Park, which sits on top of Queen Anne's Hill, overlooking Seattle. There was wedding photography going on there for a few minutes, but then we went ahead to take in the beautiful view.



































Then we made our way(with no help from the tourist map, if you can call it a map(it was very unreliable)) to the Seattle Center - Experience the Music Project, which is a tribute to music, primarily rock and roll.































We saw all of Jimmy Hendrix's guitars, the History of the electric guitar, the history of latin american rock music, a giant guitar tower, a statue of Gene Simmons from Kiss, the Apple from the Beatles tour, and even were able to play with real musical instruments and recording studio tools.



To finish the trip off, and to appease the dogs, we went to Golden Gardens Park(including an off leash dog park.) After a fun romp in the hard to locate dog park area, we decided it was late, and time to head home. It took us about an hour to find our way to I-5 to get on our way, since the mapquest directions were inaccurate, and we were in an unfamiliar place at night. With four hours to drive, we set the course for Portland and managed to make it home by midnight.
